Church renewal is “in the air.” Renewal theorists such as Lawrence O. Richards have stimulated serious thought in the minds of frustrated pastors who, in turn, create a spirit of re-formation in their congregations. The new interest often results in superficial change, adding yet another link to the program-chain that keeps the church intact. But sometimes it results in a totally new approach to Church life. Robert Girard describes his transformed pastoral ministry in his book, Brethren, Hang Loose. Donald Allen writes of his pastoral experience in a house-Church in his book, Barefoot in the Church. Other churches are studying Body Life by Ray Stedman.
